Twin-screw extruders provide excellent mixing of material and forming and are widely used to process 

powder blends that need to be thoroughly mixed as well as being melted and formed. It consists of two 

screws parallel to each other that rotate inside the cylindrical barrel. A schematic of the individual process 

steps in a Coperion twin-screw extruder is shown in Fig. 10.7.
